HydraFacial enhances IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) results.

Combined treatments in aesthetic medicine? Yes, but when and why?

IPL is an acronym that hides many promises. Every year, aesthetic medicine clinics advertise the widely known benefits of improving skin texture, tone and quality.

Intense pulsed light or “light salad”, as one of our doctors at Clínica Tufet referred to it, is a non-coherent light.

To understand the concept of coherence is as easy as explaining that a laser is a coherent light source and does one action very well. In the case of pulsed light, the light is disparate (incoherent) and performs many actions well. Pulsed light is NOT a laser! By acting at different wavelengths, pulsed light is the perfect treatment to prepare the skin for other types of treatments. Almost non-existent convalescence periods encourage many patients to undergo this treatment, also referred to as a “closet” for all its virtues.

Now, what happens if we combine IPL with another non-invasive medical rejuvenation treatment, HYDRAFACIAL?

HydraFacial is a liquid antioxidant-infused hydradermabrasion that has demonstrated increased thickness of both the papillary dermis and epidermis, increased skin hydration, increased fibroblast density and collagen synthesis in the dermis.

So many benefits for just one treatment! All this to say: if we start having regular HydraFacials we will avoid many other aesthetic medicine treatments in the future, and all this, with no aesthetic footprint (residues in the organism).

According to a study published by Bruce M. Freedman the addition of polyphenolic antioxidants (one of the HydraFacial treatment steps) to an IPL treatment significantly improved the biochemical effects on the skin.

Observed:

  • The thickness of the dermis and epidermis were greater with the combined treatments.
  • They increased the skin’s antioxidant polyphenols (which provide an anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effect), a decrease in the concentration of lipid peroxides.
  • An improvement in fine wrinkles, pore size, hyperpigmentation and skin texture.

Performing a HydraFacial treatment after IPL is not only beneficial, it is backed by a medical study.

Therefore, returning to the question “Combined treatments in aesthetic medicine? Yes, but with solid bases that validate the results.

Our Dr. Paula Bosch signs this analysis of Bruce M. Freedman’s study. She will attend you at Clínica Tufet and will explain in detail how these two treatments combined improve the quality and texture of your skin.

We look forward to seeing you at Clínica Tufet.
