Scars
A scar is an alteration of the dermal appearance, consequence of a damage suffered. Its appearance is annoying and we have different techniques to soften and eliminate them.
Atrophic
The most characteristic are those caused by acne or smallpox on the face. They are small depressions, always below the level of the surrounding skin. This type of scar occurs when not enough collagen is generated to form new connective tissue fibers.
Hypertrophic
They appear when there is an excess of collagen in the wound area. They are thick elevations of tissue that exceed the level of the normal skin surface. They can be itchy, painful and their color is usually purple or deep red.
Keloids
These scars are similar to hypertrophic scars, but much more bulky. Like hypertrophic scars, they are also produced by an excess of collagen and extend beyond the wound area. They can cause intense itching and burning.
Depending on the type of scar the patient presents, we use an appropriate dermatological laser. At Clínica Tufet we approach scars as a combined treatment.
Recommended treatments
At Clínica Tufet scar treatment can be approached in different ways. We recommend a medical assessment at the clinic to define the combined and/or personalized treatment that best suits the patient’s needs.
