Information
Applications
Cheiloplasty is most often performed on people who have previously had lip augmentation with permanent materials or because over time the injected product has caused a chronic inflammatory reaction.
Lip augmentation with filler materials may cause redness, itching sensation, stiffness, hard lip, appearance of lumps or asymmetrical irregularities or general lip augmentation causing excessive volume.
This nodule or lump that projects outward from the lip is a granuloma that appears due to a scar reaction generated around the implanted product.
The defenses identify the implanted product as a foreign body and react by creating a capsule that surrounds the implant. This capsule is the one that can increase in size due to the chronic inflammatory process that has been caused and is the reason for the deformity that we must treat.

Lip reduction treatments
Queilolaserlisis
What is Queilolaserlisis and how does it work?
How many sessions are necessary?
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure lasts between 30-45 minutes.
Improvement
After lip reduction treatment with cheilolaserlisis there is swelling of the treated lip that can last up to 7 days.
Anesthesia
It is performed under local anesthesia and on an outpatient basis.
Co2 laser
How does Co2 Laser work in lip reduction?
Lip reduction with the CO2 laser is achieved by controlled vaporization of the lip area where the nodule is located.
The CO2 laser has a wavelength of 10,600nm which is absorbed by the water in the tissues that transforms it from liquid to gas and destroys the tissue by heating.
The heat that is dispersed to the surrounding tissue is minimal, avoiding injury to the area that is not to be treated.
What advantages does it offer over other treatments?
- Allows treatment of difficult to access or small areas.
- No bleeding
- No suture required
How long does the procedure take?
The treatment for lip reduction usually has to be repeated several times in the same location, always spaced one session from the other more than 2 months.

Contraindications and risks
The scar is hardly visible or almost imperceptible since it is located on the inner edge of the labial mucosa, making it very difficult to see.
The complications and risks of the intervention, although very few, exist and can be:
- Asymmetry
- Bleeding
- Infection
- Numbness
- Cushioning
- Decreased mobility
- Abnormal scars.
