Liposuction
What is
What is liposuction?
Liposuction is an intervention that reshapes the figure in those areas of the body that are affected by an accumulation of excessive fat. Thanks to this technique you can obtain very good results permanently in the treated areas of the body, especially when the skin is firm and elastic. It is essential for the success of the intervention, a correct indication by an expert plastic surgeon.
Information
How it works
It is a treatment indicated especially to remove localized accumulations of fat that do not respond to diet or exercise. Therefore, it is not a technique to solve obesity or promote weight loss.
The typology of patients in consultation is very varied and, depending on each case, we choose the technology that suits your needs. Localized fat, or the so-called “stubborn fat” is usually the most frequent demand.
In overweight patients we have to make a different approach: we focus on areas that bother them the most, taking into account the variable of not removing too much fat so as not to cause flaccidity that did not exist. not to cause flaccidity that did not exist.
Procedure
It consists in the aspiration of fat by introducing a cannula connected to a vacuum machine or a special syringe, depending on the case, and making numerous tunnels in the previously marked area.
The duration is approximately 1 to 3 hours.
The most commonly used type of anesthesia is local anesthesia.
Areas of application
It can be applied in different areas of the body, although the most common are:
- Abdomen
- Flanks
- Cartridge holders
- Inner thighs
- Knees
- Subgluteus
Associated techniques
At Clínica Tufet, when we perform a liposuction we apply associated techniques with different technologies according to the surgeon’s diagnosis
1. LIPOLASER
It is used when subcutaneous fat predominates and little flaccidity. In this case we use the lipolaser which dissolves the adipocytes.
By introducing an optical fiber into the fat tissue, we manage to heat the fat until it dissolves. This has two clear benefits: On the one hand, its easier subsequent liposuction and, on the other hand, the retraction it creates in the tissue through heat. The perfect combination between removing fat and improving skin quality by increasing collagen.
2.BODYTITE
In case the flaccidity is greater, we opt for BodyTitea technology based on intradermal radiofrequency favoring skin retraction.
BodyTite is based on an intradermal intradermal bipolar radiofrequencyi.e. a type of electricity. With radiofrequency assisted lipolysis (RFAL), the specialist introduces an electrode under the skin and on the outside. There are two poles that emit electricity between them.
This electron emission and subsequent “rubbing” creates heat in the tissue and causes significant retraction. BodyTite offers 3D body contouring, with a three-dimensional shrinkage of the dermis, subcutaneous connective tissue and deep fat tissue through internal, external and upper lipolysis. It is a minimally invasive treatment that allows reincorporation to daily activities.
VASER
When the patient is looking for abdominal demarcation, we would opt for a technique called VASERspecific ultrasound to selectively break up part of the abdominal fat.
The VASER technology is very high frequency ultrasound applied by cannula under the skin, impacting the adipocytes making them vibrate so that their subsequent removal is easier. Consequently, it allows us to eliminate more fat with less trauma to the surrounding tissue. Another very common use is its application for abdominal demarcations allowing to get very close to the skin without damaging it.
Recovery and results
Recovery lasts 1-2 weeks. In addition, an elastic garment will be worn for 1 month.
It is normal for hematomas to appear. They are the result of aspiration and inflammation of the tissues in the aspirated area.
The results of liposuction should not be evaluated before a minimum of three months have elapsed.
It is always advisable to maintain a healthy and balanced diet and exercise.
When it is not necessary
Surgical body contouring is almost always associated with liposuction, however, there are cases in which this technique is not required due to the patient’s characteristics.
Fat located in the double chin can be treated with FaceTite intradermal radiofrequency or by lipolaser. The heat generated damages the adipocytes, the body will absorb them and they will be eliminated through lymphatic channels in the following months.
