What is lobuloplasty?
Thermage FLX is the most powerful facial repositioning system for the prevention and correction of flaccidity in the world. How it works
The earlobe is a structure formed by skin and fatty tissue, therefore, it is an anatomical part that lacks much support.
If, in addition, we add factors such as expansions or large slopes with excessive weight, we may suffer tears.

A distinction can be made between two types of torn lobes:
- Partially torn holes, which are “elongated” holes that do not completely divide the lobe.
- Holes torn completely, producing a complete division of the lobe into two parts.
- Elongated holes
Procedure
It is a minimal outpatient procedure, performed under local anesthesia, in a single session and with definitive results:
- The first step is to clean the earlobe and local anesthesia is used to minimize pain during the procedure. The edges (re-epithelialization) of each hole are then revived (re-epithelialization) to promote further healing, a process by which the wound is re-covered with new tissue.
- Subsequently, a cross suture is performed perpendicular to the tear. The objective is to restore the natural shape of the lobe and allow the tissue to heal properly.
- When 7 to 10 days have passed after surgery, the suture is removed, and after one month a new perforation can be made for the placement of earrings if desired.
It is a minimal outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia, which means that only the area to be worked on is numbed and the patient is awake during the procedure. In general, it is not usually painful.
Recovery
Recovery after lobuloplasty is immediate.
The patient can return home the same day of surgery. Even so, a bandage or gauze may need to be worn for a few days.
The length of time to wait to resume wearing earrings varies depending on the physician and the specific situation of each patient.
It is generally recommended to wait 6 to 8 weeks for the ear to heal completely before wearing earrings again.
