Coolsculpting
What is
What is Coolsculpting?
Coolsculpting is a non-invasive treatment, an alternative to liposuction, whose objective is to reduce subcutaneous fat and sculpt the body, eliminating localized fat from “stubborn areas”.
What is this localized adiposity? These are areas that, despite exercise and a healthy diet, refuse to disappear. More than twenty years ago, the first studies on the effect of cold on fat cells were carried out with the understanding that these cells are much more sensitive to temperature changes, compared to the rest of the body’s cells.

Information
How it works
Coolsculpting® technology employs controlled cooling that targets and removes only fat cells. Over the following weeks, the body naturally processes the adiposity and removes the dead cells. The results of Coolsculpting are long-term as the treated fat cells disappear forever.
Backed by more than 52 clinical studies, Coolsculpting is the only non-surgical body contouring treatment to hold a worldwide patent with Freeze Detect technology: using a negative thermal gradient of -11°, Coolsculpting simultaneously controls the temperature of fat cells and skin, ensuring that all treated adipocytes receive constant and uniform cold without damaging adjacent tissues. simultaneously controls the temperature of fat cells and skin, ensuring that all treated adipocytes receive constant, uniform cold without damaging adjacent tissues.
Procedure
The cold is applied by means of specific heads that are placed on the area to be treated, according to the protocol established by the physician. The different Coolsculpting applicators adapt by suction to the area to be treated in a comfortable and painless way, eliminating fat and reshaping the body.
Cryolipolysis produces the crystallization and natural death of fat cells (apoptosis), facilitating through macrophages, their natural elimination through the lymphatic system. It is important to note that Coolsculpting does not reduce volume per se, but localized fat.
Such constant temperature sensing and regulation mechanisms are FDA and EU approved, making Coolsculpting a safe treatment.
Is it painful?
During the treatment, an applicator and a gel cloth are placed on the desired area.
Applicators using vacuum suction the tissue into the applicator cavity.
You may feel slight tugging, stretching and pinching.
Controlled cooling is then applied to the fatty area to be treated, so you may feel intense cold; however, this sensation usually disappears after 10 minutes, when the area is desensitized.
Many people read, check their mail or even rest between sessions.
Afterwards, patients usually return to their normal activities.
Applications
The areas that can be treated with Coolsculpting are:
- Abdomen
- Flanks
- Back
- Banana roll
- Inner thighs
- Arms
On many occasions patients come to Clínica Tufet to treat fat accumulation quickly. During the first visit, in our Non-Surgical Body Contouring Unit, we take a clinical history, establish the parameters and assess expectations. Coolsculpting requires the commitment of our patients, which is why we plan a nutrition regimen at the same time as the treatment.
If your body reshaping desires are aimed at an immediate change, our Surgery Unit will advise you on this matter.
Results
The Coolsculpting procedure has a 95% patient satisfaction rate.
The physician helps create an individualized treatment plan designed for your specific goals.
Some patients see results three weeks after a session, but the most noticeable results are usually seen one to three months after treatment.
Many people, after seeing the results of the Coolsculpting procedure, take much better care of themselves.
However, if you gain weight, the adiposity can be located anywhere on your body. Not only in the treated areas.
