Information
How it works
In upper blepharoplasty we treat an excess of skin that ends up forming a fold, creating the appearance of a tired and sad face. In many cases it ends up causing even functional impairment, such as loss of visual field and eyestrain.
By means of blepharoplasty we are able to restore youthfulness to the eyes and refresh the appearance.
Applications
The treatment can correct drooping of the upper eyelids and bags in the lower eyelids, features that make us look older and more tired than we are and, in some cases, can interfere with vision. However, it does not eliminate crow’s feet or other wrinkles or sagging of the eyebrows.
It can be performed alone or in conjunction with other cosmetic surgeries of the face, such as the cervicofacial lift or facelift.
Recommended for
Superior.
First of all, we have to analyze the position of the eyebrow. Sometimes, its progressive drooping is mistaken for an excess of skin.
Secondly, we analyze the position of the eyelid so as not to confuse it with muscle elongation. It should be noted that upper blepharoplasty does not reposition the eyelid height.
Inferior.
Lower blepharoplasty is the reduction of the “bags”. The surgeon reduces these fatty structures that support and envelop the eye, preventing it from coming into direct contact with the bone. In other words, we reduce the size of the fat packets and remove excess skin.
Procedure and recovery
Blepharoplasty is usually performed under local anesthesia.
In most cases after surgery, the patient must remain in the clinic for 2 to 4 hours until the doctor releases him/her from the hospital.
After 2 or 3 days, the patient will be able to lead a normal life.
Full recovery takes about 10 days maximum.
